  Abstract of the will of Steven Allen of Chelsfield yeoman dated 4 November 1605. To be buried in Chelsfield churchyard. To the reparations of Chelsfield Church one of my sheep. To Hary (sic) Glover my godson and grandchild l0s. to be ordered for his use until he is 21 by my Executors. To my daughter Amy l0s. To my son in law Gyles Sexten for the use of his children, 6 sheep. To my daughter Em Blakeman 20s. All of these legacies are to be paid within 3 months of my death. All residue of my goods and chattels I wholly give to my two sons John and Robert Allen whom I appoint my Executors. I desire Mr Parson of Chelsfield [ie. the Parson of Chelsfield] and my brother Smale to be the Overseers of my will. Steven X Allen Item the parson is George Smith parson of Chelsfield and Percivale Smale. No witnesses given. Gyles Sexton appears in the Chelsfield Parish registers, his wife is Joane. Percivale Smale died in Chelsfield some years later in his ninetys. He left a will which I have a copy of.
