• Notes

  Housing now stands on the site of what was Brick Farm, once known as Brick Stables. This was a large mansion, home to the owners of the Manor, and the surrounding estate was let to market gardeners. It was the home of Sir William Hooker, the botanist and first Director of Kew Gardens. He was there 1841-1852. Brick Stables Farm was once famous for the asparagus grown there.
