  Edmund married Margaret, daughter and coheir of Edward, son and heir apparent of Hugh Lord Burnell, and by her left issue. Edmund was knighted by Henry VI on Whit Sunday 1426. Edmund, Walter's third son, had married a daughter of Lord Burnell and brought a settlement of thirteen manors in Surrey, Oxfordshire, Worcestershire, Somerset and Essex when Lord Burnell died. Walter had inherited and settled on his son Edmund the estate of Down Ampney, thus founding the Down Ampney branch of the family. In 1443 Edmund was made Steward of the House of Lancaster south of the River Trent. He has previously been holder of that office under Henry V. He was King's Carver from 1446-51 and High Sheriff of Gloucestershire in 1457. Edmund was a lawyer and Serjeant of Law, High Sheriff and Member of Parliament for Wiltshire in 1464. When his father surrendered the appointment of Chamberlain to the Duchy of Lancaster, Edmund was appointed in his place. Edmund died in 1484 and was succeeded by his son Thomas. His second son, Edward, founded the Cadenham branch of the Hungerford family. Edmund was knighted by Henry VI on Whit Sunday 1426.
