  To teach overseas Miss Heather Barrett, 22 year-old daughter of Cllr Mrs I Groves, Lenroyd, Pickles Hill, Oakworth, has been appointed music director of Kingsmead Public School, Johannesburg, South Africa. Miss Berrett, an old girl of Keighley Girls Grammar School, was educated under the present headmistress, Miss J A Evans. Her music tutor was Mr Jack Smith, of Steeton, who coached her for many successes, including County Scholarship for Music. Miss Barrett has continued her musical studies at Trinity College, London and has been awarded several diplomas. This month she will complete her Bachelor of Music course at London University. The South African appointment is for three years and she sails in the Edinburgh Castle on December 31st. Bradford Observer, 4th December 1953
