  William Edward Gilks Regiment number 2629 (681013,32662,234160 crossed out) At the age of 33 years and 6 months, height 5' 4", and of 122 Spa Road, Bermondsey, London William joined the 22nd Battery Corps of the London Regiment October 1st 1914. He gave his next of kin as H Verity, 8 Chase Cottages, Chase Green, Enfield, N. William served in France and Salonica being promoted from Private to Corporal but at his own request was reduced to Private. On May 7th 1919 William entered the Royal Victoria Hospital at Netley, Hants. He was discharged September 29th 1920. Collected his War medals. (Information ex TNA, Kew London)
