Notes

William is listed in Betham as a sibling of Robert (watchmaker) who died in 1781. It is assumed that this William is the one who married Alice Moore in 1765. He is listed in 1768 among the gentlemen Freeholders of the County of Carlow, who had the power to elect the Knights of the said County, to attend the Parliament.

From William onwards the tree is fairly soundly based, however the information preceding William is quite scrappy and connections are hypothetical. Unable to attach an Elizabeth Fishbourne who married Thomas Farrell, and for whom a marriage license bond dated 1776 was found. William's death date is taken from a typed document which appears to be a partial index to the Carlow parish registers, given to Kaye in Carlow in 1990 at the Carlow Heritage Centre. William was alive in 1793 when he entered into a lease with his son Robert, but by 1804 he was deceased, according to the marriage settlement for his daughter Alicia. .
